What we store when you vote

To enforce “one free vote per crown per day” we compute a one-way, salted hash of your IP address, browser user agent and language header. The hash is stored with your vote; the IP address itself is not. The hash cannot be reversed into an IP address, and it changes if we rotate the salt.

We also store the two-letter country your request appears to come from, supplied by our hosting provider. It is used for aggregate statistics only (“where votes came from”), never to identify a person.

Payments

Payments are handled by Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record. Card details never reach our servers. We store the checkout id, the bid amount and — when Polar provides it — the email address on the receipt, so we can apply your bid and support it afterwards. The country, amount, logo, name and message attached to a paid bid are public by design: they appear on the crown page, the globe and the bid history.

Live counters

The counters at the top of the page (online now, visitors, votes) are built from the same salted hash: we store one row per hash with a first-seen and last-seen timestamp. “Online now” means a hash whose heartbeat arrived in the last 70 seconds.

Logo uploads

A logo attached to a bid is stored on Vercel Blob and served publicly from there. Do not upload anything you are not willing to make public.

Hosting and logs

The site runs on Vercel, which keeps short-lived request logs on its own infrastructure. Our database stores only what is described above.

Your rights

Write to hello@vomcore.com and we will answer questions about deletion or access. Because votes are anonymised at the moment they are cast, we usually cannot link a vote back to a person even at their request.
